Introduction to Massage Therapy

As any health care provider will tell you, we receive deep personal satisfaction by helping you, our clients, feel better. With Massage Therapy, we help you to focus not just on the physical or mental aspects of healing, but on the whole person.

The integration of the heart, the mind, and the hands in service to our clients is a special responsibility and privilege that we take very seriously. Practicing as a Massage Therapist is about reclaiming the wisdom and truth of the human body. Awakening people to their innate healing abilities and educating them in natural health care methods.

There are numerous varieties of massage therapy techniques (modalities) and each has distinct advantages in different situations. You, our clients, do not need to know which modality is best for your situation. Most Massage Therapists use a combination of modalities to make your session the most effective for your current need.

Neuromuscular Therapy
Neuromuscular Therapy is a comprehensive program of soft tissue manipulation techniques that balance the central nervous system with the structure and form of the musculoskeletal system.

Craniosacral Therapy
Craniosacral Therapy is a gentle method of detection and correction that encourages your own natural healing mechanisms to dissipate the negative effects of stress on your central nervous system. You also benefit from better overall health and resistance to disease.

Deep Tissue Therapy
Deep Tissue Therapy targets chronic tension in muscles that lie far below the surface of the body.

Lymph Drainage Therapy
The proper functioning of the lymphatic system is critical to our body's ability to detoxify and regenerate tissues, filter out toxins and foreign substances, recover crucial substances that have escaped from the blood, and maintain a healthy immune system.

Swedish Relaxation Therapy
This is the most well known style of massage therapy. Using massage oil or lotion the therapist utilizes long flowing strokes and rhythmic kneading of the muscles for overall body relaxation.
